Indian Mutiny. 1 Bar Lucknow.

Sgt. Peter Murray. A. Coy. 3rd Bn. Madras Art.



Recipient enlisted in Glasgow on 5-9-18849 for service in the Madras Arty., and arrived in Madras in early 1850.
He saw extensive service in the Mutiny during the first half of 1858 as follows - Actions at Secundra 22/Jan.,
Chanda 19/Feb., Sultanporc 23/Feb., Siege and Capture of Lucknow 2-22/March., attack on Dowara Fort 4/March.,
action at Azimghur, and subsequent actions 11-26/Apr., and operations at Jugdespore 7/11 May. He was severely
wounded in the action at Duleepore on 11 May 1858 which resulted in his leg being amputated.

Sold with copies of rolls, musters and registers.

Mint = In as new condition as issued by the Mint.
EF = Extremely Fine, in an almost unworn condition.
NEF = Nearly Extremely Fine.
GVF = Good Very Fine.
VF = Very Fine, slight wear on the high points of the design, surface marks from contact.
NVF = Nearly Very Fine.
GF = Good Fine.
F  = Fine, slight wear overall, surface marks and perhaps edge knocks.
